Programs at the Boston Public Library

Boston Lyric Opera has partnered with the Boston Public Library Central and branches across Boston for over twenty years providing equitable access to quality opera experiences to the community.  All programs in partnership with the BPL are made available for free and are open to the public to attend. Legacy programming includes our Opera Night at the BPL, and yearly participation in the BPL’s Concerts in the Courtyard summer concert series. Additional projects and programs have included, bringing our Opera 101 interactive performances to BPL Children’s Room’s across the city, and programming specific collaborations including celebrating Shakespeare’s 400th and collaboration with Castle of Our Skins.

Opera Night at the Boston Public Library

A series of one-hour presentations through the season that feature interviews, lectures, and mini-performances highlighting BLO’s upcoming productions and opera as a whole. Speakers with expertise in the field share their insights into the world of opera to awaken your senses and deepen your opera knowledge before you spend an evening at the theatre. You can watch our two most recent Opera Night offerings for free on our digital streaming platform, operabox.tv.
