How do I get to the theater?

BLO will be performing in four different theaters during the 206/17 Season. Visit Directions & Parking for information on each venue. Detailed information on parking validation and discounts will be available closer to date and included in your complimentary performance reminder.

It’s a special occasion. How do I make the most of it?

Check out Make a Night of It  for nearby restaurants and special offerings to make your night at the opera unforgettable!

How long is the opera? Is there an intermission?

Running time and intermission varies for each opera. Please visit Carmen, Greek, The Rake’s Progress and The Marriage of Figaro for the most up-to-date information.

What opportunities are there to learn more about the opera?

BLO offers several ways to learn more about the opera you’re about to see! Check out Ways to Engage for details on our blog and community offerings.

At the performance, you can read articles and synopsis in your program or join us for our pre-performance talks and talkbacks:

  • Pre-Performance Lectures
Arrive one hour early to explore the production’s history and how music and design interact to create dynamic performances, while hearing about performance highlights and unique BLO touches to watch for.
  • Opera Annex Post-Show Talkbacks
Stick around after the show for our informal, half-hour panels that include cast and creative team members in an informal discussion. Listen to candid conversations about the performance process and what happened onstage that day or evening.

I’ve never been to the opera. Are there any “rules” I should know about?

Welcome! There are no set rules of behavior for opera-going, but check out our first time at BLO page for some helpful tips to give you the best opera experience possible.

Are accessible services available at each venue?

Accessible seating, listening devices and other services are available in all venues for the 2016/17 Season. For specific requests or questions, please contact our Audience Services team and we will be happy to accommodate you.

How do I get my tickets?

If you order before the performance, BLO will mail your tickets to you unless you request that they be held at Will Call. Look for BLO Will Call at tables in the lobby 1.5 hours before the start of the performance.

I lost my ticket! Now what?

Not only do Subscribers get the best seats in the house (along with a host of other benefits), they all get complimentary ticket replacements!  If there is ample time, tickets can be re-mailed via USPS. If the performance date is too close, BLO Audience Services can hold tickets at the Will Call table. If you are a Subscriber, call BLO Audience Services at 617-542-6772 or email boxoffice@blo.org.

Something has come up and I will miss the performance. Can I exchange my tickets?

If you are not a Subscriber with access to complimentary exchanges and would like to arrange a ticket donation, please call BLO Audience Services at 617-542-6772 or email boxoffice@blo.org to make arrangements. All tickets being donated need to be sent back to BLO by at least 48 hours before the performance to:
