BPL Book Club: Handmaid’s Tale Libretto Group Read

Saturday, April 27, 2019 | 2:00-4:00pm
Boston Public Library Central Branch | Commonwealth Salon
Free and open to the public; register here

Boston Lyric Opera joins the BPL Book Club “Fantastic Books and Where To Find Them” in advance of BLO’s operatic production of The Handmaid’s Tale. Book group members will do a group read of the opera libretto and compare and contrast the libretto with Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel.

Members will then connect on a deeper level through an optional special book club outing to an opera performance in early May 2019, and on May 28th will discuss The Power by Naomi Alderman, which was inspired in part by Atwood’s classic.

Please note that the May 28 session was originally scheduled for April 23.
