Are you a High School student preparing to study Vocal Performance or Musical Theater in college or a summer program? Now is the time to start preparing for your audition! Walnut Hill School for the Arts and Boston Lyric Opera are teaming up to host a workshop for High School singers who wish to gain important skills and tips to ace their college audition or summer program audition, under expert instruction by Teresa Winner Blume (Walnut Hill Head of Voice) and Collaborative Pianist and Vocal Coach Dr. Patricia Au (Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Conservatory Voice Faculty).
During this two-day workshop, participants will work on musicianship, style, presentation, text exploration, and other tools for artistic expression, as well as application and audition strategies for the highest level of preparedness and professionalism in the college process. The workshop culminates in a mock audition for a panel of Guest Artists from Boston Lyric Opera who will offer invaluable feedback and encouragement. You will end the weekend with more confidence, ready to face your auditions this year. Join us for two days of learning and fun!
Please note: All singers should bring one fully memorized art song or musical theater selection they are prepared to further explore through performance and workshop throughout the weekend. Our team will contact you closer to the course date to confirm your choice of repertoire.
Instructors:
Dr. Patricia Au – Collaborative Pianist, Boston Lyric Opera Education Pianist, and Boston Conservatory Voice Faculty
Teresa Winner Blume – Walnut Hill Head of Voice and Soprano
