Previous notable productions with BLO include Bluebeard’s Castle | Four Songs and The Handmaid’s Tale. A professor at Columbia University\, where she runs the graduate directing program\, Bogart is the author of six books: A Director Prepares; The Viewpoints Book; And Then\, You Act; Conversations with Anne; What’s the Story; and The Art of Resonance. Recent theater works with SITI Company include Falling and Loving; The Bacchae; the theater is a blank page; Persians; Steel Hammer; A Rite; Café Variations; Trojan Women; American Document; Antigone; Freshwater Under Construction; Who Do You Think You Are; Radio Macbeth; Hotel Cassiopeia; Death and the Ploughman; La Dispute; Score; bobrauschenbergamerica; Room; War of the Worlds; Cabin Pressure; Alice’s Adventures; Culture of Desire; Bob; Going\, Going\, Gone; Small Lives/Big Dreams; The Medium; Hay Fever; Private Lives; Miss Julie; and Orestes. Opera credits include Tristan and Isolde\, Croatian National Theatre; Macbeth\, Glimmerglass Festival; Norma\, Washington National Opera; I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Carmen\, Glimmerglass Festival\, Seven Deadly Sins\, New York City Opera; and three operas by Deborah Drattell: Nicholas and Alexandra\, Los Angeles Opera; Marina: A Captive Spirit\, American Opera Projects; and Lilith\, New York City Opera. \nAnne Bogart will be stage directing Mahler’s Song of the Earth as part of the Boston Lyric Opera 2025/26 season. \nAnne Bogart is presented as part of Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Opera Innovators Series in partnership with Boston Lyric Opera. \nBoston Lyric Opera gratefully acknowledges David & Janet McCue for their generous support of Boston Lyric Opera in presenting the 2025/26 Opera Innovators Series.  \nThis event is open to Berklee students\, faculty and staff with a valid Berklee ID\, and invited guests only.

DESCRIPTION:Norman Garrett Masterclass\nSunday\, September 28 | 3:00-5:00 PM\nBoston Conservatory’s Studio 401\n31 Hemenway Street – Floor 4\nBoston\, MA 02215 \nWATCH LIVE  \nBoston Conservatory at Berklee and Boston Lyric Opera are thrilled to welcome Norman Garrett to lead a masterclass with Boston Conservatory at Berklee students and Boston Lyric Opera’s Jane and Steven Akin Emerging Artists as part of the Opera Innovators Series. \nAmerican baritone Norman Garrett will return to the Metropolitan Opera in 2025/26 to perform Jim in Porgy and Bess\, also performing Crown in Porgy and Bess with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City\, and in concert\, Carmina Burana with Boise Philharmonic and The Epic of Gilgamesh with Bard SummerScape. Recently\, Garrett returned to Washington National Opera as Crown in Porgy and Bess\, sang The Reverend in Blue with the Lyric Opera of Chicago\, debuted at San Francisco Opera singing Abdul and Abe in Omar\, returned to LA Opera as Bob in William Grant Still’s Highway 1\, USA\,\nperformed Masetto in Don Giovanni with Houston Grand Opera\, sang Jochanaan in Salome with Des Moines Metro Opera\, and debuted as Macbeth with Opera Orlando.
