“This one weekend perfectly captures what Boston Lyric Opera is all about—investing in artists, creating thrilling musical experiences, and forging collaborations both at home and far beyond our own city. From Boston to Philadelphia to Grand Rapids, in just a matter of days, BLO is proving the power of our mission in action.”

Dear Friends,
Opera has the power to unite artists and audiences in a shared experience of music and storytelling. At Boston Lyric Opera, we are committed to creating productions that inspire and expand the reach of our artists, our vision, and opera’s impact.
Just last weekend, BLO’s investment in artistic collaboration brought opera to audiences across the country:
- Our new partnership with the Boston Symphony Orchestra on Die tote Stadt at Symphony Hall was a triumph featured a powerhouse cast led by BLO Trustee Christine Goerke, alongside BLO artists Elliot Madore, Terrence Chin-Loy, Jane & Steven Akin Emerging Artist Alum Neal Ferreira, and members of the BLO Chorus.
“a welcome new collaboration with Boston Lyric Opera, confirmed it as a powerful work.” – New York Times

- Our 2024 production of The Anonymous Lover with a new book commissioned from Boston’s Playwright Laureate Kristen Greenidge, was presented to sold-out audiences at Opera Philadelphia reaching new audiences with its fresh and inclusive storytelling.
“packs a laugh into every minute” – New York Times
- Our 2024 commission and new production of Eurydice by Matthew Aucoin and Sarah Ruhl traveled to Opera Grand Rapids; BLO Jane & Steven Akin Emerging Artist Morgan Mastrangelo wowed audiences in reprising the role of Hades that he helped to originate during Boston’s premiere.
“BLO’s performance was excellent, as was its production [with] impressive moments [both] visual and musical! The production design was superb.”
– The Boston Globe

These Boston-made productions—and the careers they support—are only possible with the investment of donors like you. Your generosity fuels commissions, co-productions, and partnerships that place Boston at the heart of opera’s future. When you support BLO, you don’t just invest in what happens on our stages; you help send our artists and productions into theaters across the country, ensuring opera thrives as a vibrant and relevant art form.
“I was invited to be the first working artist with real-time experience to serve on the Board. BLO’s vision to bring more expansive understanding is changing how we collaborate, create, and become more inclusive as an organization and an industry.”
— Christine Goerke, BLO Board of Directors
