Dear Friends,
It is a busy spring at Boston Lyric Opera! After back-to-back productions of Joseph Bologne’s The Anonymous Lover and Matthew Aucoin and Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice, we are moving ahead with a summer full of opera and plans for the newly announced 2024/25 Season, our most expansive season yet with new locations and partners.
During our 2023/24 season so far, Boston Lyric Opera has reached over 620,000 homes through live opera performance. Our annual BLO Street Stage series launches June 1 with a return to Rowe’s Wharf in partnership with The Greenway and an appearance at Plaza Betances on June 13 in partnership with Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción.
Partnership has been a consistent thread this past year and will continue as a throughline for the season ahead. In addition to our long-standing partners like Boston Public Schools and Boston Public Library, we look forward to welcoming new collaborators such as Boston Children’s Chorus, Boston String Academy, and Back Bay Ringers, to name a few. Our work is enhanced by finding a common purpose with fellow arts organizations, cultural partners, artists, creative workers, our neighbors, and — most importantly — you.
If you haven’t already explored next season’s offerings, I invite you to do so at blo.org. The titles, casting, history, and stories — from Mozart and Verdi to a world premiere and a classic American musical — will make this one to remember.
I hope you’ll join us this summer and for the season ahead.
With heartfelt thanks,
Bradley Vernatter
