The Opera Gala

Featuring Michael Fabiano

Honorees
Linda Cabot Black (Leadership Honoree)
Deborah Voigt (Artistic Honoree)
Michael Bobbitt (Community Honoree)

Opera + Community Studios

Friday, October 16 | 6:30PM

Join us in celebrating—and shaping—opera’s next 50 years in Boston.

Our milestone gala is a chance to invest in BLO’s impact across the region: thousands of students reached through in-school programs, artists cared for at every stage of their creative and personal development, and neighbors engaged through free performances and community partnerships. Throughout classrooms, libraries, community spaces, rehearsal rooms, theaters — and perhaps some unexpected places — BLO’s work centers connection, care, lifelong learning, and shared cultural experiences.

The evening culminates in a special performance by world-class American tenor
Michael Fabiano in a joyful celebration of the power of opera to bring people together.

We are proud to recognize three honorees whose contributions have shaped Boston Lyric Opera’s past and future:

Linda Cabot Black (Leadership Honoree), BLO Board and Leadership Council member, and longtime patron of opera and arts education in Boston

Deborah Voigt (Artistic Honoree), internationally acclaimed opera artist whose breakout performance as Ariadne in BLO’s 1991 Ariadne auf Naxos marked a significant milestone in her singing career

Michael Bobbitt (Community Honoree), President & CEO of OPERA America, formerly Executive Director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and Voice of God in BLO’s 2025 production of Noah’s Flood

We are deeply grateful to our Gala Co-Chairs, who work tirelessly and with great dedication to make this evening possible:

Miguel & Suki de Bragança
Bill & Susan Poduska

Funds raised by the 50th Anniversary Gala will support BLO’s community and education initiatives, including a newly co-commissioned community opera by Carlos Simon and Tracy K. Smith, shaped in public dialogue with Boston youth and community members.
